THE ALMA MATER STATUE Welcoming you to the University of Illinois is the Alma Mater statue standing in front of Altgeld Hall at the corner of Green and Wright Streets in Urbana, Illinois USA.
The famous alumnus Lorado Taft designed the statue for the fiftieth anniversary of the reunion of his class. It stood on the south side of what is now Foellinger Auditorium from 1929 until 1962.
