Before running the demos and modules for the first time:
- Download the TenCORE runtime
Run the self-extracting EXE file to install TenCORE, then close your browser and start it again.
- Run Computer Based Police Education and Training Net demos and modules (Netscape Navigator recommended)*.
- Follow regular directions from this point on.
*Some versions of Internet Explorer do not properly support Netscape plugins. If the Police Education links above do not function, download or create the following shortcut on your desktop (or cut and paste the text into the Windows "Start, Run" prompt):

Net CBE. Taking advantage of TenCORE's modular file structure, lessons run unit-by-unit providing a fast and secure method for remotely delivering instruction without download delays associated with other training products. This self-extracting file installs the TenCORE Net environment on your local workstation for use with any version of Windows.
You will need the TenCORE Net software available free above to use the present microcomputer police training e-lessons. Information on downloading the self-extracting TenCORE Net software is stated above in the direction section.
Your browser will be setup automatically once TenCORE Net has been downloaded and installed before running the demos and modules for the first time. Your Network Administrator should be able to help with this.
Finally, after the one-time downloading of TenCORE Net, you are ready to click COMPUTER BASED POLICE EDUCATION AND TRAINING NET above without the inconvenience of downloading.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS Author Roy Walker has taught the behavioral aspects of policing and corrections; criminal investigation; traffic accident investigation; and police report writing with over 36 years of service presently at the Police Training Institute (PTI), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) USA. Dr. Walker holds the position of UIUC Associate Professor, Emeritus, PTI, Champaign, Illinois.
